Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Chandler man on vehicle and drug-related charges on Friday, March 18.

Deputies were called for a reported hit and run accident on Chama Drive near Gunsight Drive. When they arrived they found the suspect vehicle had been hemmed in by two citizens who had witnessed the reported hit and run.

One of the witnesses told deputies he believes the man was traveling at 90 miles per hour in the residential neighborhood.

The suspect admitted striking a vehicle travelling on Saguaro Boulevard, but he said he experienced mechanical trouble with his vehicle and was unable to stop.

Deputies arrested the man with citations for driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*On Sunday, March 13, deputies cited a Rio Verde man on a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Saguaro Boulevard. The man was cited for criminal speed traveling 66 miles per hour where the speed limit is 35.

*On Friday, March 11, a Fountain Hills resident reported burglary at their home in the 16000 block of Glenbrook Boulevard. The victim reported property valued at approximately $10,000 was taken including documents, jewelry and electronics.

*On Monday, March 13, a resident of the 16000 block of Walapai Circle reported that someone had damaged their mailbox valued at $1,000. The mailbox was struck with something heavy and the mail carrier reported to the resident they could not leave mail in it.

*On Tuesday, March 15, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone had taken her iPhone from her purse while she was shopping at the Goodwill store in Fountain Hills. The phone was later recovered at the Verizon store on Shea Boulevard, damaged beyond use.

*On Wednesday, March 16, deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on Shea Boulevard near Eagle Mountain Parkway. A vehicle traveling east on Shea moved to change lanes just before reaching Eagle Mountain Parkway and struck a second car traveling in the same direction. No one was injured. Deputies issued a citation for an unsafe lane change.

*On Thursday, March 17, there was a two vehicle accident at Saguaro Boulevard and Panorama Drive/Palisades. Two vehicles were waiting to make a right turn from Panorama to Saguaro when the front vehicle stopped to check traffic and was struck from behind by the second vehicle.

*On Thursday, March 17, deputies received a report that someone had stolen a gumball machine from a restaurant in the 17000 block of Shea Boulevard. The machine is owned by Integrity Vending.

*On Friday, March 18, deputies arrested a Florence, Ariz. man for DUI following a single vehicle accident on Rio Verde Drive near 150th Street. The man told deputies he was making a U-turn when his vehicle ended up in a ditch.
