Arrest made in burglary at home of homicide victims

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a man in connection with the theft of two vehicles from the home in Fountain Hills where two homicide victims were found earlier this month.

At about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, the suspect, Keith Dees (42) was apprehended by Phoenix Police as he fled the scene where he had crashed one of the cars.

The first vehicle, a black Mercedes, was recovered June 8, two days after the burglary at the home in the 14900 block of Kit Fox Place in Fountain Hills.

The second vehicle, a white Nissan Altima, was located near 70th Ave. and McDowell Road. As the driver fled from police he crashed near 99th Ave. and Thomas Road. He was apprehended by police as he fled on foot from the crash scene.

The burglary at the home was discovered after neighbors reported suspicious activity near the house where the bodies of Mary Simmons and Bryon Thomas were discovered on June 3. Their murder is being investigated by Scottsdale Police as part of a wider murder spree in which six people were killed and the suspect took his own life.

Dees was booked into jail on one count of theft of a means of transportation. Additional charges are pending further investigation of the burglary.
