Bike Rodeo set for April 28
Posted
The Noon Kiwanis Club is once again having its annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo, but it has been moved from January to late April this year.
The club will conduct its third annual Fountain Hills Bike Safety Rodeo Saturday, April 28.
It will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the McDowell Mountain Elementary School campus on Fayette Drive.
Designed for preschoolers to fifth graders, the bike rodeo will include safety inspections of bicycles, bike helmet checks and safety-oriented obstacle courses designed to teach safe riding practices and the rules of the road.
Bike helmets are mandatory for all kids who participate.
Kiwanians will conduct the bike rodeo in cooperation with Fountain Hills Bikes and the Fountain Hills Unified School District.
“We want this to be a family event where parents and young children can come by to make sure their bikes are safe and to practice some safe bicycle skills,” said Bernie Hoenle, president of the Noon Kiwanis Club and himself an avid bicyclist. “April is still a great time to get outdoors and enjoy bicycling, before it gets too hot. We want to help make this a safe endeavor for kids and families.
“Please mark your calendars for April 28 and stop by for some fun and some safety tips.”
Refreshments and snacks will be available. Free raffle prizes will be available as well.
Flyers have been sent home with younger students.
