Council to talk McDowell Preserve bylaws, appoint commissioner

The Town Council meets next on Tuesday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall.

With its regular agenda the council will address amendments to the McDowell Mountain Preservation Commission bylaws and then consider the appointment of an additional commissioner to the panel.

There is also consideration of a contract with ZOLL Medical for the replacement of three AED defibrillators along with associated equipment and preventive maintenance. That contract is for $94,500.

The council will consider approving job order contracts allowing for up to 15 contractors to bid on routine construction jobs that are bid at no more than $125,000.

The annual pavement management agreement is on the agenda for the approval of up to $8.5 million in asphalt replacement and maintenance work. That agreement would be with M.R. Tanner Development and Construction.

The council will consider a fourth amendment to a cooperative purchasing agreement with Utility Construction Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for lighting upgrades, maintenance and new construction.

There is also a discussion related to the public art ordinance on the agenda.

Council members will also have the opportunity to offer input regarding actions being considered by the State Legislature while it is in session.

The council meetings are open to the public.
