Food for Fines being offered at library
Posted
Fountain Hills Library continues its Food for Fines event through Sunday, July 15.
All branches in the Maricopa County Library District, including Fountain Hills’, will accept non-perishable foods to have fines reduced. For every item donated, $2 will be waived in overdue fines up to $50 per account.
Non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, tuna, cereal and canned vegetables are desired. Donations will be sent to Extended Hands Food Bank.
For those who don’t have fines and want to donate food, donations will help waive fines on a child’s account.
In 2017, the district waived $35,968 in fines, according to the library’s website, mcldaz.org.
