Home Delivered Meals seeks volunteers

The Home Delivered Meals program in Fountain Hills is seeking volunteers who want to make an impact helping their neighbors.

The purpose of the Home Delivered Meals program is to provide nutritional noon-time meals for individuals who require meal preparation assistance allowing them to reside as long as possible in the comfort of their own home.

“Volunteer Day Coordinators are a key component to the success of our program.” States Nita Blose, HDM program coordinator.

HDM day coordinators keep the volunteer delivery schedule organized by contacting their volunteers in advance with the next week/month’s schedule. They communicate with the HDM program coordinator, and deliver meals themselves one day a month which keeps them abreast of changes or improvements that may be needed to improve service to the residents of Fountain Hills.

Presently, there is a need for a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday daytime coordinator. A good candidate for this volunteer position would have excellent organizational skills and be able to communicate with volunteers by email. Be available once a month for a two hour window starting at 10:45 a.m. to deliver meals and it would be a plus if you already are familiar with the HDM program or have delivered meals sometime in the past but not a requirement.

The Town of Fountain Hills appreciates its HDM day coordinators for taking time from their busy schedules to serve others.

“Their commitment allows our program to deliver meals seven days a week, including all major holidays.” Blose said.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer day coordinator for the Home Delivered Meals program, please contact the Activity Center at 480-816-5226, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Messages may be left after 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends with follow up on the next business day.
