Hurricane aid truck leaves Thursday

The tractor trailer transporting hurricane victim donations from the Veterans Donation and Consignment Center and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507 -- 9624 Monterey Drive, behind Chase Bank -- to Houston, Texas, will leave at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Any new donations are requested to be left by noon Thursday. Resident Cindy Rose Perrin, her husband, Jim, and son PF recently dropped off a pickup of items collected from friends and neighbors.

Needed are cleaning supplies, non-perishable food and liquids; new or gently used clothing, blankets, linens, personal hygiene items, paper plates and plastic utensils; school supplies, back packs, animal food and kennels, shoes and socks. Checks payable to Texas VFW Foundation deliverable to the location also will be accepted.
