Rainy start to 2019

With 2018 finishing as a fairly wet year for Fountain Hills with up to 10 inches of rain falling over the past 12 months, 2019 is off to a cold, damp start.

Maricopa County Flood Control District rain gauges around town collected up to an inch or more of rain since New Year’s Eve; the majority falling this past weekend from late Saturday into Sunday morning.

The monitoring site at the top of Golden Eagle Boulevard just inside the Eagles Nest subdivision received 1.14 inch during the week.

The station designated as Cloudburst Wash, which is adjacent to the Adero Canyon Trailhead, received 1.10 inch.

The Fountain Hills Fire Station #1 on Palisades Blvd. at Avenue of the Fountains received 1.02 inch.

Along with temperatures dropping below freezing for several nights, snowfall was not far off, although none was reported in Fountain Hills.
