Rio Verde Fire District has deployed a wildland fire team to the Woodbury Fire in the Superstition Mountains near Superior.

The fire, that started Saturday, June 8, has grown to more than 9,000 acres. A Type 1 Incident Management Team took over the campaign at 6 a.m. June 12. The fire is in a remote area of the mountains and not threatening homes or structures.

High temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds are concerns for this fire.

Deployed with the RVFD Type 3 brush truck were Engine Boss Jeff Staples, Scott Redish and Dean Donaldson.

The RVFD responds to deployment requests from the Arizona State Forestry office.
