Thanksgiving parade ready to roll

There’s nothing like a good parade to kick off the holiday season.

The only Thanksgiving Day parade in Arizona will step off at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 23, at El Lago and Saguaro boulevards.

The parade will travel along Saguaro to Palisades and then up to La Montana, where it finishes at Parkview Avenue.

This heart-warming event has become an annual town tradition for 33 years and is a great way to pass the time while the turkey is cooking in the oven.

Community groups, schools and businesses will create floats to interpret the theme, “Winter in the Southwest.” The high school marching band and spirit troupe will perform.

Prizes are awarded for the best presentations in several categories.
