Time running out to make voice heard in Vision FH

There is just one more day for residents to participate in the community survey Vision Fountain Hills will use to focus its community workshop on May 7. The survey will close Thursday, March 31.

Vision Fountain Hills Committee Co-Chair Jerry Butler said the group is very pleased with the response so far. There had been 1,200 responses to the survey as of last week.

The committee will use names it gets from the survey to invite people to participate in the workshop. Anyone interested in participating in the workshop should make sure to complete the survey by the deadline. The survey will ask for contact information for those who want to participate in the workshop.

The workshop is an all-day event and there will be a cost to participate to help defray the costs.

Community members need to get together and look at the hard decisions that will need to be made regarding budget and finance for the town, Butler said.

“We will be asking for their solutions to the issues during the workshop,” he said.

“We need to have ideas that the people will support.”

Here are those issues and a few questions the Vision committee would like residents to consider as they complete the community survey:

*Education – What part does excellence in education play in the long-term vitality of our community, and how can we promote greater achievement of exceptional performance within our local district and system?

*Community finances – Financial security is critical to the health and wellbeing of every community. What steps need to be taken to best secure the future of our town?

*Economic prosperity – How does the health of our business community affect the personal and public lives of all residents and what enhancements are necessary to promote its future success and viability?

*Quality of life – A significant number of environmental, governmental and social influences have dramatic effect on the quality of life we seek and enjoy. How can we identify these factors and coordinate their functions to enhance our quality of life as the community matures and seeks to develop a more vibrant socio-economic status?

VisionFH co-chair John Craft said, “Fountain Hills is truly an exceptional community, but we must work together to define our future vision for this town.

“It is time we explore and decide what we’re going to look like five to 10 years from now. That’s what this process is all about.”
