Town applying for Diamonds Back grant
Posted
The Town of Fountain Hills is seeking a grant from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation for ball field reconstruction at Four Peaks Park.
The council voted 5-0 to authorize staff to apply for the Diamonds Back Youth Field Building Grant for 2018.
The town has included funding in its 2018/19 capital budget for other improvements at Four Peaks Park including playground relocation. There is no funding for work on the ball fields.
The Diamondbacks Major League Baseball team works with communities throughout the state to restore and build baseball fields through this annual grant program.
Community Services Director Rachael Goodwin said there is no financial match from the town needed for this grant. The Foundation works with industry partners such as SRP and Musco to facilitate the entire project including construction solicitation and financial management. The town would be responsible for ongoing maintenance and upkeep.
The grant application is due by July 31 with award announcements by the end of the year.
