Volunteers sought to help clean sculptures

Volunteers are needed to help with the Save Our Sculptures program to maintain the Town of Fountain Hills public art works.

The SOS program was designed to help preserve the life of many art pieces here in town. At a staggering 150 pieces of public art in Fountain Hills, the town is home to one of the largest public art collections in the state of Arizona.

The majority of these pieces are outdoors and in direct contact with sun, irrigation, dust and dirt. Cleaning these sculptures on a consistent basis is necessary to make sure they retain their beauty and longevity.

The SOS program consists of a group of volunteers that meet once a month to assist in the cleaning of art pieces at Fountain Park, Avenue of the Fountains and Centennial Circle.

The SOS volunteers are split into four groups and each group meets on their assigned Saturday of the month. For example, group one meets the first Saturday of the month; group Two meets the second Saturday of the month, etc.

The SOS program will begin work for the season on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018.
