Jack Hansen

Posted

Jack Hansen, owner of Saguaro Homes Limited and long-term resident of Fountain Hills, Ariz., died peacefully at home on Jan. 8, 2018 at the age of 80.

Jack is survived by his wife, Joyce (aka Cookie); his children, Joel, Lisa, Cheryl, Greg, Michael and Kevin; his grandchildren Melissa, Joel Jr., Adam, Ryan, Trey, Ryan Benno, Kobe, Cierra, Kye, Collin, Jacob, Kassidi, and Samuel; and six great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, William Jr.; his mother, Eleanor and his father, William.

Jack was born in Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 24, 1937. He began working in construction in 1956. He quickly moved up through the ranks and became a supervisor for Pulte Homes in the suburbs of Chicago. In 1976 he was promoted to Western States Regional Manager and relocated to Gillette, Wyo. before starting his own residential construction business, Saguaro Homes Limited, in Fountain Hills, in 1983. He met and fell in love with Cookie, a real estate broker, marrying her on October 17, 1987.

Jack was a loving husband, a generous father, and an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling, celebrating with family and friends, betting on the ponies, watching football, playing cards with his grandchildren, and a good gin Martini. He loved to sing and dance to the classics – Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Irish folk songs, and hits from the 1950s. He was kind, energetic, fun-loving and well known for being a highly skilled, reputable contractor. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, customers, and all who knew him.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at the Messinger Mortuaries at 12065 N Saguaro Blvd. in Fountain Hills. In lieu of donations, the family requests that you watch football or play a game you love; have dinner and a toast thinking of him. He’d want everyone to stay in touch with Cookie and keep her vibrant and joyful.
