Marguerite Iorio

Marguerite Iorio, age 52, of Scottsdale passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Michael P. Rissman.

Marguerite was born in Chicago on May 13, 1963 and grew up in the Denver area. She was the daughter of the late Carmen and late Marguerite F. Iorio.

After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado, she went on to receive her J.D. at California Western School of Law in San Diego.

She met the love of her life, Michael, and they were married on Oct. 26, 1991. She was a practicing attorney in Chicago who left law to become a full-time mother to her two sons, Joseph Iorio Rissman and Nicholas Iorio Rissman. The family moved to Scottsdale in 2007.

Marguerite is survived by her husband and sons; her brothers, Maurice Iorio (Linda) of Sterling, Mass., and Carmen Iorio Jr. (Gloria) of Bloomington Springs, Tenn.; her sisters, Pamela Davelis (George) of Papillion, Neb., Martha Schmidt (John) of Cookeville, Tenn., and Mary Jane Iorio of Scottsdale; and her in-laws, Burton and Fran Rissman of Chicago, Ill.

She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends.

Marguerite was strong, beautiful, curious, compassionate, and intelligent. Everyone who met her knew instantly that she was a special woman.

Friends and family turned to her for guidance and support, and she generously gave of her time and her wise advice. She was a voracious reader and an accomplished painter. She loved to travel, especially on cruise ships, but most of all she treasured simply spending time with loved ones.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Visitation is at 6 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, 85268, phone (480) 837-5588. Donations can be made to Shoebox Ministry in Scottsdale, AZ.
