Ill-conceived

Posted

I write this letter as a constructive critique to an ill-conceived lagoon project being proposed by some members of the Town Council.

During the time that I had the privilege to serve on the Town Council, I learned that our Mayor had been negotiating with the State Fair and Ft. McDowell in an effort to bring the State Fair to our community.

I then asked our two law enforcement agencies to provide us with a report on the safety aspect and the impact such a project would bring to Fountain Hills.

In both cases, the results were that it would bring crime, pollution, liability and violations of town ordinances and increased costs in the administration, patrolling, protection and safety of residents.

Clearly, most of the visitors to the proposed lagoon would visit starting Friday, when Town Hall is closed, and weekends, therefore creating additional administration costs to a town that today cannot dedicate funds for infrastructure.

I believe that Vice Mayor Magazine and Councilmember Leger have made a strong case to oppose this project and am hopeful the Town doesn’t continue to spend the needed funds to repair our streets for a team of consultants to conduct a feasibility study.

Further, I spoke to many realtors that felt that Fountain Hills’ real estate values would depreciate as a result of, at that time, an ill-conceived project.

This is another one.
