Non-represented

Posted

We’ve had enough of being non-represented in LD23 by John Kavanagh and Jay Lawrence at the state House.

Kavanagh is unquestionably the Machiavelli of Fountain Hills, as well as of the state legislature. If it’s regressive, he either proposed it or endorses it. Jumping back and forth between House and Senate, he evades term limits and currently tries to help another do so in order to make state legislator a career job.

Lawrence has no policy ideas of his own and even joked on Facebook about going fishing instead of to his seat in the House chamber. When asked how he decides how to vote, he told a political breakfast gathering that it’s easy; the leadership tells him. Both are right-wing apparatchiks for the most reactionary segment of their party.

Instead, LD23’s excellent candidate is Eric Kurland, a Scottsdale teacher with 23 years in the classroom. Unlike his opponents, he is a people-loving, approachable extrovert who exudes warmth and a sincere interest in what his future constituents think.

In a state ranked 49th, Eric supports fully funding education. He wants a level playing field instead of favoritism for charters at the expense of public schools. He wants to rein in the growth of for-profit private prisons, and to return power to voters by repealing barriers to the gathering of petition signatures. Eric pledges never to help block a voter-approved measure.

Please vote only for Eric Kurland for state House. It’ll be the best two out of three, so put that second vote in your pocket! By “bullet” voting for Eric, you will help insure that he’s one of the two who prevails on election night.

It’s 2018; time for a teacher!
