Selecting a council member to replace the position held by Cecil Yates is of vital importance for the current mayor and town council. Let me be very direct: Sharron Grzybowski would be an outstanding choice for a number of compelling reasons.
First, Sharron had the motivation and determination to actually run in the August election and placed fourth, just behind Alan Magazine, who was elected to council.
Second, she is a respected business owner with the intelligence and knowledge to deal with the challenging issues that face this town.
Third, Sharron’s love for the community and commitment to work on behalf of all of us in a non-partisan way demonstrated itself in the recent election, as she personally reached out to citizens to discuss our priorities and solutions to our concerns.
Fourth, a precedent in appointing a candidate who came in fourth has already been established. John Kavanagh was appointed to fill a two-year term on the Fountain Hills Town Council after coming in fourth in an election before actually being elected to his first four-year term on town council.
I hope these factors will be considered and that Sharron Grzybowski will be the choice for town council.
