Trailhead

Posted

Besides God, my family and my employer, I have many other things for which to be thankful as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving.

One of those things is the brand new Adero Canyon Trailhead, which was dedicated this past Saturday by the Town of Fountain Hills.

This beautiful and well-planned trailhead is one of those “it takes a village” type of things.

First the vision had to happen. Many folks were on top of that one.

Secondly, the town needed to purchase preserve land. Voters came through on that. Then trails had to be carved out. Volunteers took care of that. Then Adero Canyon needed to be opened up. Developers were on to that one. Then, besides development fee monies, some extra money had to be allocated. The Town Council came through with the funds.

So Saturday’s celebratory occasion actually stretches back decades to the early days of incorporation.

Kudos to all past and present residents and officials who, in some manner, were a part of making the McDowell Mountain Preserve and Adero Canyon Trailhead become reality.

Once the additional 82 acres is officially added to the Preserve, it will total more than 1,000 acres.

These amenities are unique and help make the Town of Fountain Hills the wonderful community that it is. They will bring people to town. They will encourage folks of all ages to exercise, get healthier, enjoy nature and experience the desert beauty this area offers.

It’s these types of municipal projects that make me proud to be a citizen of Fountain Hills and ready to be sworn in Tuesday, Dec. 4, as a new member of the Town Council.

And if a constituent in the next four years tells me to “take a hike,” I may just do that!
