Town offers sports and activities

The Town of Fountain Hills Community Services continues to provide opportunities for residents to get out and get active with various programs scheduled for the coming weeks.

Senior softball
Slow pitch senior softball is open for registration. This recreational league plays on Wednesdays and is open to players from age 65 and up. Morning games are hosted out of Golden Eagle Park.
Individuals are encouraged to contact Anjelica Giardino at the above contact information to be placed on a team. Drop-in play is Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings. Team fee is $200.
The course number is 2208.
Youth golf
Junior golf clinics are being offered at SunRidge Canyon. Students will learn the rules, skills and techniques of golf. Registrations is Thursday before the start of each session and clubs are available during the clinics.
Courses are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 29 through April 7, 4 to 5 p.m.
This class is open to students ages five to 13, and the cost is $55. The course number is 1870.
Tennis lessons
A variety of tennis lessons are being offered for adults and youths. Courses will be taught out of Golden Eagle Park.
Courses are offered for Pee Wee tennis, youth tennis, adult beginner and adult intermediate or advanced players.

Pitch, Hit, Run
The Pitch, Hit and Run competitions will be hosted out of Golden Eagle Park on March 30, beginning at 5 p.m.
This event is open to youngsters seven to 14 years of age. With an emphasis on having fun, competitions will include pitching for accuracy, hitting for distance and accuracy, as well as running for speed.
This is a free event.
Run Girl Run
A six-week running program designed for female runners is beginning. No running experience is needed, though proper running shoes are required.
The goal of the course will be for participants to be ready to complete a 5K or 8K, as well as know the fundamentals of nutrition and injury prevention, as well as proper exercises and stretches to enhance the running experience.
Courses will be held on Wednesdays from April 6 to May 11, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Participates 13 years and older are invited and the fee is $95.
The course number is 1939.
Exercise class
This exercise class is intended to encourage fitness for everyday life. It will begin with a warm-up before moving into low-impact cardio, followed by muscle conditioning with small weights and bands. Participants are asked to bring their own weights, mat and water. Bands are provided.
The registration deadline is the Monday before the class. Classes will be held on Fridays from April 1 through May 20, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Open to participants 18 years of age and older with a fee of $24.
