Arts on the Desert welcomes the Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 11, at The Gallery on the Way, 130th St. and E. Shea Blvd. on the campus of Saint Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church.
The Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona (CWA) was formed in 1969 by a group of professional art teachers and artists who met to paint together and then to critique their paintings.
Their first exhibition was held in 1972. The organization’s purpose is to motivate each member to stretch and expand the scope of their work.
These artists are often juried into International, national, regional and local competitions and many CWA members have worked in other art-related fields.
The Gallery on the Way is an art gallery that curates monthly exhibits from artists around the Valley of the Sum; an “oasis on the way” where curiosity and continuous learning thrive while offering a place of restoration and renewal where all may belong, a press release read.
The event is held from 2 to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Many artists offer their work for purchase.
Saint Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church is located at 12990 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale.
