Dinosaur presentation at Fountain Hills Library

Dinosaur enthusiast offers hands-on experience

The Fountain Hills Library invites the community to join Fountain Hills resident and dinosaur enthusiast Darla Roberts for a look at common and uncommon dinosaur facts and figures.

Bringing in real dinosaur bones, Triceratops’ teeth, fossilized dinosaur eggs a T-Rex toe, Roberts will guide attendees through a look into the world’s ancient animals in a free presentation Saturday, March 23.

Roberts has participated in three different dinosaur digs in the Badlands of the United States, a past haven for dinosaurs from the Cretaceous and Jurassic eras.

She has worked side by side with paleontologists as they find and remove dinosaur bones.

The fossilized bones and teeth attendees can see and hold at this presentation are estimated to be between 66 and 145 million years old, part of the Cretaceous period of dinosaurs,  according to a press release.

Roberts will pass the fossils to the audience members to examine while she addresses why dinosaurs matter today.

Roberts also will discuss dinosaur facts, including the fact that only 5% of dinosaurs have been discovered and new ones are being discovered monthly, the release said.

The presentation will allow attendees to see dinosaur fossils “close up and personal” while learning why dinosaurs are important to understanding the world today and the evolution of the planet, the release said.

This is a free event open to the community. Registration is required and can be made at the Fountain Hills Library website, mcldaz.org/fountain-hills.

The presentation is Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room at the Fountain Hills Library, 12901 N. La Montana Drive.
