Award-winning author and Holocaust survivor Dirk van Leenen will speak at the Fountain Hills Community Center Thursday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

His presentation is entitled “No Greater Love Has He…” in which he will share stories from his trilogy of titles written about his experience during WWII in the Netherlands, particularly surrounding the Nazi resistance led by his parents. During his presentation, van Leenen also hopes to discuss his views on Socialism, antisemitism and more.

The titles of the three books are “The Americans are Coming,” “Resistance on a Bicycle” and “The Last Train to the Concentration Camp,” all of which will be available for purchase and singing at the event.

“There are lots of Jewish people in Fountain Hills, and I enjoy doing things in Jewish communities,” van Leenen said. “I’m one of the few (Holocaust survivors) that are still alive…I’ll make it till 100 I hope. That’s my plan, and I am very healthy.”

The Fountain Hills Community Center is located at 13001 N. La Montana Drive.

Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. The event is free for Community Center members and $5 for non-members. Call 480-816-5200 to register.
