Fearless Kitty Rescue in Fountain Hills announces Silver Whiskers Program

Fundraiser and special adoption packages for senior kitties

Fearless Kitty Rescue has announced a new program specifically benefiting senior kitties and their adopters.

Through the Silver Whiskers Program, a percentage of monthly intakes are cats in need, aged seven or older, along with special adoption packages, according to a press release from Mel Stevens of Fearless Kitty Rescue.

“Kitty Factoid: The average life expectancy of a cat is 13 to 17 years and many cats even survive to the age of 20 or more,” Stevens said. “As cats gradually become bigger parts of the family, it is especially heart breaking to see older cats in the prime of their lives suddenly homeless for one reason or another.”

Christine Fixico-Silver, director of Fearless Kitty Rescue, said, “Due to the fact that these older kitties often come with a variety of special needs and medical issues, we are fundraising to be prepared for such expenses throughout this ongoing program.

“We will also be offering special adoption packages for the adopters of our Silver Whiskers cats and we are waiving the adoption fee for adopters 60 years of age and older when they adopt one of our Silver Whiskers kitties.”

Fixico-Silver added, “What is especially exciting is that longtime FKR volunteer and donor Dr. Crystal Baxter wanted to be the first to step up and make this program a reality for the cats.

“She has pledged to match all donations for the Silver Whiskers program up to $10,000.”

The fundraiser kicks off on Valentine’s Day.
