NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night is Saturday, Oct. 21, and Fountain Hills residents can get in on the action.
The Fountain Hills Dark Sky Association invites the public to join them at Centennial Circle, outside of the Fountain Hills Library, River of Time Museum and Community Center, where several telescopes will be set up to view the moon, Saturn, Jupiter and other celestial objects.
Night Sky Tourist will offer a laser-guided tour of the night sky and some moon lore from cultures around the world, a press release said.
The Fountain Hills Library will also have lunar activities for kids while the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center will exhibit its Charles Juels telescope, used in Fountain Hills to discover hundreds of asteroids.
As a special treat, Arizona State University has invited Fountain Hills to participate in the NASA live-stream that same evening. The event is free and will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.
The Centennial Circle is located just outside the Fountain Hills Library and the museum, 12901 N. La Montana Drive.
