The Fountains United Methodist Church is set to host wild food expert and desert gardener, Peggy Sue Sorensen of The Desert Kitchen Thursday, Feb. 8, at 9 a.m.

Sorensen is an herbalist and teacher of the edible and medicinal plants in the Desert Southwest.

“She will guide attendees in discovering the abundance of food God has provided right here in the desert,” read a press release from The Fountains Pastor David Felten. “There are many native and non-native plants, trees and cacti (even some ‘weeds’) in your yard that are edible and healing.”

The Fountains welcomes Fountain Hills’ seasonal visitors to celebrate their winter home with a light brunch the opportunity to meet and mingle with folks from their home states and a glimpse into what makes Arizona such a unique place, the release said.

A $10 fee covers brunch, an Arizona IQ quiz and the morning’s presentation.

To register, call the church office at 480-837-7627 or email welcome@weputlovefirst.org to make a reservation.

The Fountains is located at 15300 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.
