Need 'thinkers'
By: Jerry Herling
July 1, 2009

What the town needs to survive is more “Thinkers” like Julie Ghetti and Joan McIntosh, who both appear to be working on ways to reduce spending.

At the other end of the spectrum you have Vice Mayor Mike Archambault, who thinks it’s irresponsible not to go forward with the bond election. I don’t think he mentioned that these bonds would be paid for by a secondary property tax.

Another thing you should know is that in Senate bill 1036 the Legislature is proposing to redistribute a substantial portion of the current tax burden from commercial and vacant land property owners and place it on residential property owners for voter-approved bonds and overrides.

Don’t let the camel get his nose under the tent.
