A jewel Fountain Hills cannot afford to lose

OPINION — History is not merely a collection of old photographs and artifacts; it is the compass that guides a community toward its future.

As a former mayor of Fountain Hills and a former member of the River of Time Museum’s Board of Directors, I am deeply unsettled by the recent recommendation to transition our museum into a mere tourism office and gift shop. To do so would be to dismantle a jewel that was polished by the hands of our town’s most visionary pioneers.

The L. Alan Cruikshank River of Time Museum exists because of the tireless dedication of three men, whose legacies define our valley: L. Alan Cruikshank, President Clinton Pattea and Jerry Miles.
