With the kids out of school now, you’ll need to watch out for them on their bikes and skateboards throughout the day on our roads.
And be sure they have adult supervision when they are using neighborhood pools. Also, be keeping a watchful eye on any vandalism you may see taking place in the community. Every year, we see an upturn in vandalism when the kids are out of school. There are a number of schools and churches that offer summer programs for kids, along with programs at the Boys and Girls Club. Keeping them busy keeps them safe.

The sales campaign has begun on the 2017-18 Fountain Hills Community Guide.
The magazine format publication offers information about things in the community ranging from a calendar of events for the year to information on town government and schools.
There are also lists of medical services, clubs and organizations and places of worship.
It’s everything you need to know about living or visiting in Fountain Hills.
It will be distributed in late June. Those businesses wanting to advertise in this publication can call 480-837-1931 for an appointment. Ask for Brent, Duke or John. Deadline for ads is June 2.
The Fountain Hills Community Guide has been published annually since 1990 by Western States Publishers, Inc. of Fountain Hills. It is the parent company of The Fountain Hills Times.

The community lost another of its pioneer residents on May 7.
Ann Stavely, an active resident and volunteer in the community‘s early years, passed away on May 7.
She was inducted into the Lower Verde Valley Hall of Fame in 2007. She and her husband, Earl, set up and ran the River of Time Museum’s River Bank Store in its early years.
Ann was a charter member and past president of the Fountain Hills Women’s Club. She and Jane Haynes formed the Fountain Hills Herb Society. This led Ann going into business. Teaming with another early day resident, Sarah Armstrong and Haynes, they opened The Desert Kettle in 1978. They created a line of homemade jams and jellies using fruits and herbs from the native desert. They were also members of the first congregation of the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
She also is the person responsible for talking Jerry Miles and me into writing a book about Fountain Hills history.
