Well, we had a nice Christmas, or should I say three nice Christmases.
As I said last week, daughter Holly and her two girls came to visit on Tuesday, Dec. 16. That was our Christmas celebration number one.
Then we celebrated Christmas Eve with my mom, son Brent and his girlfriend, Gina Gagliano, brother Steve, his wife, Linda, and friends Frank and Janie Kainrath.

On Christmas morning, we hopped into our SUV and drove to Las Vegas to visit daughter Toni, her husband, Jason, and their son, Camden.
We had a wonderful visit, although it was brief. We were there just two days. As I said last week, Camden is doing quite well after his open heart surgery last summer to repair deformities in his heart, including a hole in his heart wall.
He is now 10-1/2 months old. He is starting to talk. His first word was “Mommy.” We took our 13-year-old beagle with us named “Molly” and he took an immediate liking to her. And “Molly” became his second word.
When we left the Valley on Thursday, the temperature was in the low 60s. When we stopped in Kingman on the drive to Las Vegas, the temperature was in the 40s and the wind made it feel that much colder.
Las Vegas wasn’t that much better. We had highs in the 50s both days, and they are forecasting as much as three inches of snow for parts of the city on New Year’s Eve. The high for Thursday in Las Vegas is only predicted to reach 40 degrees.
Then I get back to the Valley and they are predicting snow down to 2000 feet on Thursday morning in the Phoenix area. That means we could wake up to snow-covered McDowell Mountains that morning. Depending on how cold it is that morning, we could even see snow in the middle of town.

We hurried back on Saturday to attend the 50th wedding anniversary party for Jon and Diana Klesner.
It was held at the Rio Verde Country Club with more than a hundred people in attendance. We got off to a later start than we anticipated. We arrived at the party in time to enjoy the selection of Mexican food served buffet-style.
Happy 50th Jon and Diana. Their son and daughters surprised them with a trip to China.

Check out the latest edition of Let’s Go inside this week’s Times. We refer to this as our car auction edition.
There is a feature story that highlights all of the East Valley car auctions being held in January, including the Silver Auction at Fort McDowell.
There’s also a feature story on Glenn Roberts, owner of The Finishing Touch, a Fountain Hills body shop that has a reputation for quality restoration of classic automobiles.

This is the last issue of the year and that means reviews of the year’s top stories will begin this week.
Be sure to read the editorial staff’s overview of the “top 10” stories of 2014. I don’t know where the time went. It seems like we just had the last year in review.
Anyway, Diane and I, as well as the entire Times staff, wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
This being the start of the year also means we need your changes immediately for the Fountain HiIls and Verde Communities Telephone Directory.
White page residential listings must be submitted by Jan. 9. Ad deadline is Jan. 19.
