Ballots went out in the mail last Thursday for the Nov. 4 General Election.
Once again this is an all mail-in election. All registered voters in the community will receive a ballot regardless of party affiliation.
There is one measure on the ballot that I would like you to strongly consider marking the yes box adjacent to it.
The Fountain Hills Unified School District is hoping the “additional assistance budget override” question is approved by voters.
The financial boost needs to continue with the seven-year renewal of this capital override.
The money would be used for such things as software and hardware improvements for students, text books and on-line resources for pupils, building improvements for existing sites, student transportation vans and furniture and equipment.
The money cannot be used for administrative salaries. It goes directly into the classrooms.
I feel a yes vote is justified. I hope you do too.

The fall season is upon us and that means the River of Time Museum begins its normal hours for the season.
The museum is located next to the Fountain Hills Library. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
A grand opening to the public of the new ranching exhibit will be held on Nov. 22. Also that day a Chuckwagon Dinner will be held on the museum patio. Watch The Times in the weeks before the event for additional details.
And you have to see the changes that have been made at the River Bank Store in the museum’s lobby area. It has been totally remodeled. The store’s manager, Gerry Colbert, has added new merchandise and more will be added for the holidays.

You’ll find a special page in this week’s edition devoted to garage sales. It appears on Page ______. The Times is still a good way to advertise your garage sale.
The page contains the Town of Fountain Hills garage sale regulations and there are suggested tips on how to hold a successful sale.
This week’s garage sale ads are included in both that page and in the classified section where they normally are located.

The early bird discount period is over this Friday for the Fountain Hills and Verde Communities Telephone Directory.
Any business that submits payment for their ad by Friday, Oct. 17, will receive a 10 percent discount on their entire order.
Contrary to rumors you may hear about printed phone books not being effective advertising vehicles, a survey conducted by the Association of Directory Publishers shows that Yellow Page advertising continues to be a good return on investment. Calls to businesses from print ads in independent Yellow Pages directories increased 28 percent from 2010 to 2013.
Call Brent, Duke or John for advertising in the Yellow Pages at 837-1931. Do so by Friday and receive a 10 percent discount.
