Adeline Lochner of Fountain Hills passed away Sept. 3, 2014 at the age of 90.
Adeline Rueb was born as one of 10 children and raised in a three-room farmhouse in rural South Dakota. Her parents, Jacob Rueb and Magdalena “Lechner” Rueb, were both of German and Russian ancestry.
Adeline left South Dakota at the age of 19 with her oldest brother and his wife to the shipyards of Portland, Ore. to work in the hulls of ships as an insulation installer during World War II.
When the war was over she moved to Madison, Wis. with a childhood friend. It was there that she met a soldier recently home from the war named Leo Lochner. Leo and Adeline were married Feb. 28, 1947.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband Leo in 2000 and eight of her siblings. Adeline is survived by three children, Kathie “Lochner” Holzhueter (Ron) of Madison, Wis., Steven Lochner (Luana) and Nancy “Lochner” Beck (Ron), both of Fountain Hills; one sister, Erline Fischer of Madison, Wis.; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Adeline loved family above all other things. She always enjoyed the special times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. She loved playing cards, gardening and baking and was a master at all of them.
Adeline will be missed tremendously by her loving family, friends and all who knew her. Thank you for all you have done for us and all of the life lessons you have taught us. We will miss you and love you forever.
Eternal rest will be at the Phoenix National Cemetery where she can again be with her loving husband, Leo.
