Adios, Arpaio

Every dog has his day. If I recall, some of us get our 15 seconds of fame. Haha. But there is one guy who got 24 years of media coverage before he got caught breaking the law; something that he had been doing all along.

I remember the night his supporters on Town Council were attempting to censure me for uninviting this clown from being the keynote speaker at our 911 memorial service. Joe himself was sitting in an adjoining room sending handwritten messages to his posse members suggesting how they were to dress and speak before the Council.

When one of these notes was inadvertently dropped on the men’s room floor, it was picked up by one of our marshalls and promptly delivered to me on the dais. I revealed the attempt by the Sheriff to fraudulently orchestrate the outcome of the vote. Councilman Kavanaugh about lost his mind when Arpaio was outed.

The Censure failed but the charade never ended. Folks, there are many other examples of this kind of petty behavior that have never been revealed up to now for fear of reprisal. Now that he has lost his sword, the time has come for the public’s right to know the truth.

I know that Arpaio’s supporters will attempt to vilify me and rewrite the past, but I also know that the truth shall set you free. I intend to share nuggets of truth with you over the next several months so that you will know.

By the way, I just turned 65. Our youngest, Summer, just moved into her own home. Cheryl and I are adjusting to life as “empty-nesters.” Summer was one of the youngest people in Arizona history to obtain her Real Estate license. Proud of her. Ashley is fine. Adios Arpaio.
