After bringing our first Golden Retriever home, there was no looking back.

Ellen and I are now with our fourth wonderful Golden; Daisy II. None of our dogs have been from a breeder but a number of years ago, after Daisy I had passed away, we were introduced to the wonderful people of Rescue a Golden of Arizona.

These passionate and dedicated people do everything possible to rescue members of this wonderful breed and find the very best of forever homes for these dogs. Ellen became more involved by offering her great artistic talent to paint the pet of a winner of one of the fundraising raffles. Something she continues to offer.

This is the other side of the organization; the need to replenish the coffers after having to pay for the sometimes huge veterinarian bills. Successful fundraising throughout the year enables us to provide the best veterinary care so that the Goldens can become some family’s great four legged companion for a long time.

Next Sunday, March 29, Rescue A Golden of Arizona will be participating in a PACC911 event called Paws around the Fountain, Pet Adopt-A-Thon. This event is organized and sponsored by the Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911).

There will be over 50 rescue organizations with lots of animals looking for forever homes. The event takes place in the Fountain Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be Goldens of all ages representing the Rescue A Golden of Arizona booth. I hope you will come and visit us on Sunday.

Please bring your children and grandchildren by to see us. In the meantime you might wish to go to: www.golden-retriever.org/ or https://www.facebook.com/RAGofAZ.
