Adrienne Savage passed away quietly on Dec. 1, 2017 in her home at Tonto Verde. She was born in Dumont, N.J. in 1937 to Otto and Erna Lichtensteiger of Teaneck, N.J. She attended Holy Angels Academy and was a graduate of Manhattanville College in 1959. She was a math teacher at the high school and college level during her career.
In addition, she served in the Fountain Hills mentoring program for 19 years during her retirement and received the “Pillar of Strength Mentor Award” in 2015.
Her survivors are: husband, Donald Savage of Tonto Verde; their four children, Donald Savage of White Cloud Mich., Neil Savage and wife, Judy, of Lancaster, Pa.; daughters, Dawn Savage of Metuchen, N.J. and Kathryn McGlynn and husband, William of Glen Gardner, N.J.
Grandchildren include, Peter and John Savage of Richmond, Va., Hannah Savage of Philadelphia, Pa., Charlotte and William McGlynn of Glen Gardner, N.J. She also leaves her brother, Lance Lichtensteiger of Surf City, N.J. and her sister in law, Mary Francis, of Au Sable Forks, N.Y.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was an avid bridge player her entire life especially during her retirement. She participated in the development of the Tonto Verde community from the time she arrived and was the Lady Putters statistician for many years. In the summers, she enjoyed her time in the Adirondacks with family playing golf, swimming and became quite the fisherman catching many a prize fish. She happily served as “chief concierge” for friends and family visits making for memorable times.
A celebration of life service for her will be held at Tonto Verde in January. Contributions in her honor can be made to VerdeCares or Hospice of the Valley.
