An outside agitators’ group, Americans for Prosperity, has inserted its nefarious nose into our town’s business. They are paying for “No to the property tax” yard signs and assisting community members to fool voters into turning down the consistent funding source we sorely need.
By all means, evaluate their points, but realize where their filter lies. They are not about helping our town. We have a tidal wave of road costs headed for Fountain Hills. The primary property tax is a good tax. It provides a consistent town funding base.
According to the April 17 presentation to the town council, the property tax will cover the expenses of making 163 miles of road surface healthy again. With the new tax money, doing so will still take a decade. “Our roads, worth $200 million, are our single largest asset,” according to the Road Study Report.

Spurn the outside agitators. Protect our roads now. We are at the tipping point. Road costs will rise exponentially if we don’t act. Vote yes.
