The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Health Watch for 2.5 Particulate Pollution for Saturday, Dec. 13, and upgrading that to a High Pollution Advisory for Sunday, Dec. 14.
The advisories come in spite of the forecast wet weather for the weekend, which should settle particulates. However, air quality forecasters believe the weather will increase fireplace use and cooler temperatures enhance the inversion trapping smoke near the ground.
The health and pollution advisories will trigger the “no burn” requirements through the weekend, and the conditions are expected to continue into next week.
