Alan Ensign Hastings, Ph.D., age 92, was born in North Adams, Mass. on June 1, 1924. He lived his life as a gentle, humble, kind, loyal soul who respected all those he encountered along the way.

He was a brilliant, accepting person who was an intuitive interested listener. He loved Rossini, birdwatching, the weather, being outdoors and anything in nature.

He loved spending time by the river in Prince Edward Island, feeling the cool breezes.

Alan was an artist, teacher, counselor, professor and clinician. He shared his unique talent of integrating drawings with therapeutic treatment. He shared his creative, witty humor in his yearly holiday greeting cards which served as entertainment and joy for those that received them. He was most proud of his time in the service as a veteran of WWII.

He leaves behind his wife, Ann, of 26 years. He leaves behind his son, Russell; daughter-in-law, Deb and family; his daughter, Lori and son-in-law, Doug and family; and his son, Alan. He will be truly missed by family, friends, students and acquaintances in the United States and Canada that knew and loved him.

Urnside services and military honors will be held on Monday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
