Almost true

What a sad state of affairs when our town council/mayoral races have to run smear campaigns opposed to running their own campaigns on true morals, ethics, abilities and knowledge of our town.

What a sad state of affairs when the opposition drudges up the “almost true statements” and then posts them on social media or runs an advertisement in a magazine or the town newspaper.

The almost true statements that are posted/published as fact are shameful and hateful and need to stop because they are “almost true.” The current 2018 campaign is growing uglier by the week and it needs to stop. This is not a national or state race, it is a non-partisan race to fill the seats that have been vacated on our town council.

Anyone can take a true statement and, with the slightest of twists, make it an almost true statement. As well, one can dig long enough and deep enough to find a dusty, shadowy creature in the closet.

Mike Archambault, I served four years with you and Ginny Dicky and almost eight years with Cecil Yates and I thought I knew you. I am shocked at your need to post almost true statements about Cecil Yates. I could go back into the meeting and campaign notes and find questionable statements and actions on you, Ginny or even myself, especially if I tell almost the truth.

Mike, I feel you should take the Facebook posting and the almost true statements about Cecil Yates down and let Ginny and Cecil run a one-on-one campaign. Let Ginny and Cecil sell themselves without casting the almost true statements.

Anyone can cast almost true comments about another person that would generate doubts. I feel you should not apologize to Cecil, but to the people of Fountain Hills.
