'Always a Bridesmaid' to open at theater

Fountain Hills Theater is proud to announce the opening of “Always a Bridesmaid,” a delightfully funny comedy by the authors of “Dixie Swim Club” and “Mama Won’t Fly.”

In this hilarious comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their senior prom: to be in each other’s weddings, no matter what. More than thirty years later, these Southern friends-for-life are still making “the long walk” for each other, determined to honor that vow.

Libby Ruth, the hopeful romantic with the perfect marriage, believes -- in spite of all evidence to the contrary -- that her friends can find the very same happiness.

More than thirty years later, these Southern friends-for-life are still making “the long walk” for each other, determined to honor that vow.

Libby Ruth, the hopeful romantic with the perfect marriage, believes -- in spite of all evidence to the contrary -- that her friends can find the very same happiness.

Headstrong Deedra’s “rock-solid” union hangs by a thread when she discovers her husband of many years has not only a wandering eye, but the hands to match.

Monette, flashy, high-spirited and self-involved, continues to test her friends’ love and patience with all-too-frequent trips down the aisle.

And salt-of-the-earth, tree-hugging Charlie discovers -- the hard way -- that marital bliss is not the end of her rainbow and panics in outrageous style when the opportunity presents itself.

Jones, Hope and Wooten are three of the most produced playwrights in America today (over 3,000 productions and counting). They have entertained millions on television, in film and on stages across the U.S. and around the world.

“Always a Bridesmaid” is produced and directed by Peter J. Hill and stars Dyana Carroll, Barbara McBain, Stephani Mcdonald, Marren Sanders, Christi Sweeney and Carly Weekley.

“Always a Bridesmaid” will play Aug 15-24. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Individual tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 17 and under, plus $3 handling fee per person. Group rates and student rush discounts are available.

All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage Too at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. (corner of Saguaro and Rand). Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at 837-9661 x3 or by visiting fhtaz.org. Box Office Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
