American heroes

On June 25 my husband became so ill and non-responsive that I called 911. In less than five minutes the fire trucks arrived.

The firemen and firewoman quickly took action. One fireman took notes, asked me questions and once my husband was in the ambulance shared reassuring information.

During my lovely mother’s bout with lung cancer the fireman visited our home a couple times. But the night my mother passed they were so comforting, and I just cannot thank them enough for their kindness and caring ways.

One of the firemen said to me that night, “I will stay with you until the officer arrives.” He stayed even longer making sure I was okay. They serve our community just like the military serve our country.

All first responders are our heroes in the community and are great Americans. As founder of a veteran charity, American Healing Arts Foundation, our mission statement includes first responders, whom we hope to service in the very near future with free art classes (all supplies included).

God bless our firemen and women, police officers and veterans – they are all our great “American Heroes.”
