AMVETS Post #7, Fountain Hills, was awarded the Arizona Post of the Year for 2016.
The primary criteria for the prestigious award are serving veterans and their families, community involvement and what the overall impression of the post is in the eyes of the Arizona Department Commanders. Post #7 is going on its 10th year at 17030 E. Enterprise Drive.
This past year Post #7 sponsored Michal Suchanek, a 15-year-old Fountain Hills student who won the National AMVETS Americanism award for the State of Arizona. Suchanek competed against students from across the state for writing an essay about Americanism. He won a three-day trip to the Freedom Foundation Conference in Valley Forge, Penn.
