Anna Smith

Anna “Annie” Kosiw Smith was born in Dublin, Pa. on July 17, 1926. She entered Heaven’s gates on Dec. 24, 2013.

A consummate mother and embodiment of the words “work ethic,” she successfully raised seven kids in addition to working full time. While living in Buckingham, Pa., mom’s joys were simple: mowing the lawn, gardening, cooking and throwing parties for her ever expanding family.

Our Mom loved to dance, even into her 80s. She had two beloved German Shepherds, Madchen and Gretchen, who were her constant adored companions on the family farm. Our mother taught us by example to embrace all people from all walks of life equally.

Annie was predeceased by her husband, Willard. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Marlene, and son, Tommy. She is survived by five children: Richard, Carol, Mary, Billy and Kathy. Her daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Mark, and children, Katey and Danny, in Arizona cared for her for the last years of her life. The family gives Kathy and her family their greatest gratitude.

Additionally, it goes without saying that all of the companions and agency personnel who cared for Annie are truly appreciated.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 5, from 2 to 3 p.m. for a funeral service and then celebration of Annie’s life afterward at St. Anthony’s on the Desert Episcopal Church, 12990 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale.
