Through donations from the Rio Verde and Tonto Verde communities, the Verde Christmas Project helps needy individuals and families during the Christmas season by providing clothing, food, toys and household goods. No cash is ever given.

This year’s Christmas Project will support families from the following organizations: families with children attending Fountain Hills schools, veterans’ families, Foster Your Future (young adults aging out of foster care), Homeward Bound (shelter for homeless and victims of domestic abuse), Vista Del Camino (needy families in Scottsdale) and Unlimited Potential (literacy program for adults and children-English as a second language).

The Verdes Community Christmas Project, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization and an AZ Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO number 20288). The AZ Tax Credit program provides a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on Arizona state income tax, allowing for contributions of up to $421 for individual filers and $841 for joint filers who donate to the VCCP. Verdes residents are asked to help make this a special holiday for families in the Valley by making a donation or volunteering to “adopt” a family this season.

Those interested in participating and have not received a copy of the Christmas Project mailing, copies are available at the Rio Verde Community Association Office or by contacting the project coordinator, Diane Newcomb, dnewcomb1957@cox.net.
