Well, they have done it again….of course they did, they always do. The Fountain Hills Theater opened over the weekend with The Buddy Holly story and will play until Aug. 16 and they have another hit!
If you were around in the ‘50s you will remember not only Buddy Holly, but the Big Bopper (Chantilly Lace) and Richie Valens (La Bamba). This is a happy play/concert telling the story of Buddy from 1956 until he is taken too soon in 1959.
Directed by Peter J. Hill, the entire ensemble is fantastic! Jack Lambert IS Buddy Holly. He is onstage 99 percent of the time and nailing songs such as “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Johnny B Goode” and many more. It is 1956 and Texas will not give Buddy the break he needs to sing rock and roll. Finally he and his Crickets get their chance and their songs top the charts for months.

After his spilt from the Crickets, Buddy goes to Clear Lake, Iowa for one big show. Fate steps in and many call Feb. 3, 1959, “The Day the Music Dies.” This is handled as a footnote and the end. This play is about the good times and talents of these young men.
The Fountain Hills Theater is the first non-contracted theater in Arizona to produce this show. Don’t miss it! You’ll be dancing in the aisles and loving every minute of it. Why do I keep saying our theater is the best in the Valley? Because we are.
See you at the theater.
There are two fundraisers on the horizon. September 25, please join us for “Howl at the Moon” aboard the Desert Belle along with the Southwest Surfers.
