Over the past weeks the public, as well as my husband and I, have had the opportunity to observe, evaluate and determine the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates vying for a four-year seat on council. As of this writing, the public has voted and the winners decided.

Among the candidates, we determined that Mr. Gerry Friedel stood out front with his honest, pragmatic and hopeful insight into our community’s problems and needs. Gerry showed a willingness to examine the issues and listened closely to the public’s questions and concerns.

This awesome man knocked on over 2,000 doors during the “dog days” of summer, while temperatures hovered well over 100 degrees. Now that is dedication, determination and a desire to serve while demonstrating the humility to listen! These qualities set Gerry apart from the others expressing an interest in this vacated seat.

Now that is dedication, determination and a desire to serve while demonstrating the humility to listen! These qualities set Gerry apart from the others expressing an interest in this vacated seat.

Gerry has a tremendous financial background. He earned his BA in bank management/finance from North Central College and has a certificate in financial planning from Loyola Business School. He has a 39-year career in banking including 22 as a loan officer and 17 as a financial advisor. He is completely honest and transparent.

In addition, Gerry and his lovely wife, Barbara, have been Fountain Hills property owners for 28 years and understand the financial, safety and infrastructure issues facing our town. His impressive interpersonal skills will be a source of unification on council.

In summary, we ask that each of you afford this formidable stalwart resident consideration in appointing him to the vacated seat on council. Our town could not ask for a greater advocate for all of its residents.
