I understand why Sue Mackie is in favor of an aquatic center. It has been her life’s work. You might remember she used to give swimming lessons at her house on Calaveras Avenue. Some of her neighbors complained about the traffic and parking. I am sorry the town refused her a permit for this type of business, but it is a residential area.

My point is Calaveras, Del Cambre, El Sobrante are streets that surround the closed elementary school site. It has been suggested the town or School District may own property that might be suitable. I am sure most of the people who live in residential areas would object to it being built there. I believe it would hurt their property values.

I believe the School District owns vacant property at the corner of Hawk and Arroyo Vista, a residential area. McDowell Mountain Elementary is located on Fayette, Glendora and Hampstead, also residential. It appears there is no room at the high school or the middle school at the end of our town.

Commercial area on Saguaro at the Fountain can be viewed from the condos and houses around Fountain Park. They would also be exposed to traffic, noise and crowds. Be careful what you wish for. They might build it in front of your house.

I have lived here 36 years. I have always fought for the quiet, safe, quaint, beauty, financial stability and integrity of our town.
