Arline (Lawler) Kaufman was born June 27, 1938. She was the daughter of Frank and Hazel Lawler of Jersey City, N.J.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Buddy (Lawrence) Kaufman. She gave birth to one daughter, Lori Ann (Kaufman) Bates, of Fountain Hills; and two grandsons, Matthew J. Bates, of Glendale, and Zachary M. Bates, also of Fountain Hills. She is additionally survived by her siblings, Donald, Mildred, Albert, Walter and Robert. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy and Jackie, and her brothers Michael, Frank Jr. and Harold.
She and her husband relocated in 1992, following their daughter, Lori, from Wharton, N.J. to Fountain Hills. She worked for 17 years in the cafeteria at Scottsdale North Hospital before retiring. She loved to cook for large family gatherings, and her eyes would light up at the mention of a hot fudge sundae.
She enjoyed crocheting and made sure everyone got one of her famous “cross blankets.” She was a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ and member of Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills.
She went home to her Lord peacefully while napping in her house on Feb. 12, 2014. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills. A potluck will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills or The American Cancer Society.
