It’s that time of year in Fountain Hills, where the weather lets people enjoy the outdoor activities that come with the holidays and cooler temperatures. There’s plenty to do with family and friends visiting from around the country, and it all starts on Thanksgiving Day.
There will be 2,000 runners gathering on Avenue of the Fountains at sunrise Nov. 27 for the 35th annual Turkey Trot 5K run and fitness walk that starts at 7:15 a.m. This is a favorite for runners living in Fountain Hills as well as from across the Valley, state and the country.
After a good run, or walk, to get the blood circulating hang around the downtown as the 40th Thanksgiving Day Parade winds its way along Saguaro Boulevard, up Avenue of the Fountains and back with dozens of marching groups, floats and music. Santa arrives for the season with the help of the Fountain Hills Fire Department. The Parade is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
