Art show

First, I must express my admiration to Sharon Morgan and her crew who always do an extraordinary job of coordinating the art show. As a fine artist for over 45 years, I know it’s a huge undertaking.

I have been in the FHAS (Fountain Hills Art Show) for 20-plus years and without a doubt it ranks as the worst showing of jured art ever; it has become a flea market! This isn’t the art show I have come to love. DirecTV, Nationwide Insurance, Anderson Doors and Windows, demonstrations and selling of pots and pans, Nationwide ads over the PA system. This is absurd!

How and why are they juried into an art show? The Chamber boasted in the paper that 195,000 people attended the show. That is two football fields of people – that’s a total misrepresentation.

As a resident of Fountain Hills I have talked to business people and reputable artists and all agree that maybe 50,000 people attended. Has the politics of the Chamber of Commerce become so greedy that they don’t care about the quality of the show, but instead how much money they can make? Fountain Hills deserves better.
